Celebrating Green Food

Broccoli, the Crown Jewel of the Vegetable World

Thank you to our generous sponsor, Wegmans, for donating broccoli, tasting cups, and yogurt-based dressings for all Owen J. Roberts Elementary School students, and also to Mrs. Heather Ryan who supported this donation.

Broccoli Literacy
Thanks to Mrs. Mulroys class, East Coventry Elementary

To eat green is good for your weight
But is not too good for bait
You may think it is gross
But it's certainly the thing you should eat the most
You should eat it at a good rate.

G Green beans are good
R Really tasty
E Even have little pods
E Even if you don't like them now
N Never know about next year if you'll love them
B Best to eat them.
E Even make you grow strong
A And so
N Never stick your tongue out or make a funny face at a green bean.

I can be healthy
You can be too
So eat your green veggies and I'll eat them too.

B Be right on time for veggie time
R Right on time is good
O On time means you get done faster
C Call for more veggies and they will come
C Call all you want and it will be fun
O Off to bed veggies said
I If you like dessert, eat your veggies first
I I will always eat my veggies, will you?

Eat your broccoli
It's good for you
It makes you STRONG
And healthy too!
Instead of sitting in front of a TV screen
Treat yourself to a cuisine
Be a mean green broccoli eating machine!

Broccoli is good
Broccoli is fine
Broccoli will kick your behind into healthy shape
Eat green fruits and veggies like green grapes
If you eat them a lot you will see
that you could be healthy just like me.
If you are hungry for something to eat,
Green fruits and veggies are a healthy, tasty treat.
If you don't know green fruits and veggies taste like and are suspicious
Just try one and I'm telling you they are delicious.
Cucumber, celery, broccoli, green beans and peas,
Green grapes, green apples, lettuce, cabbage, and kiwi.
Don't judge them by the outside
I bet you'd like them if you just tried.
Go try one, I know you will realize
That they are a tasty treat in disguise.
